A specially shaped Phase Fresnel (PF) lens element and Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat significantly reduce ghosting. Nikon’s ED and SR glass control chromatic aberration from the centre to the edge of the image.

AF is fast, precise, whisper-quiet—tracking is smooth whether shooting jostling race cars or distant wildlife. When used with Nikon mirrorless cameras that support Synchro VR, you can gain up to 5.5 stops vibration reduction.

Cinematic

Pan from shadows around the nest hole to a sunlit sky—film scenes with natural shifts in brightness thanks to extremely stable aperture control. Focus breathing is suppressed so you can smoothly shift focus while maintaining framing.

Customisable control

An intuitive layout lets you control key functions without taking your eye from the viewfinder. You can assign functions to the L-Fn buttons and the silent control ring - and you can use the memory-set button to save focus distances.

Advanced weather sealing

Sealing around all moving parts keeps dust and moisture at bay, and a rubber gasket on the lens mount protects both lens and camera. Nikon’s fluorine coating protects the front element and makes it easy to clean.
